Plexus Slim harnesses the benefits of 2 plant
extracts; derivatives of chlorogenic acid and
oxypregnane steroidal glycoside. Chlorogenic
acids are present in a large variety of fruits and
vegetables, and provide high anti-oxidant
power approximately twice as superior to that
of dark chocolate! Oxypregnane steroidal
glycoside is a benign plant extract with
extraordinary appetite management qualities.
Plexus Slim ingredients are all-natural and specially
formulated to fit the many causes of obesity and diabetes.
Made from the highest quality ingredients with years of
research behind it, Plexus Slim offers the most comprehensive
solution to healthy weight management available today!
Chlorogenic Acid (plant extract): Chlorogenic acid is a common dietary
polyphenol found in many plants including certain fruits, green tea and
green coffee bean. Chlorogenic acids are known for their antioxidant and
anti-inflammatory activities. Chlorogenic acid is one of the most powerful
hydroycinnamic acids (see below) and has a wide range of health benefits
in humans. It is a powerful antioxidant that can also prevent atherosclerosis
(a condition where hard plaques form in your artery walls, restrict the flow of
blood and ultimately increase your heart disease risk), prevent cancer and
prevent diabetes. In addition to this, it can reduce blood levels of low
density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (a type of cholesterol that causes
blockages in the arteries and increases your heart disease risk), reduce
your heart disease risk (by preventing atherosclerosis and reducing blood
levels of LDL cholesterol) and support weight loss (by forcing your body to
use fat for energy). Coffee is the richest source of chlorogenic acid and
contains between 35mg and 175mg of this hydroycinnamic acid per 100ml. Some other good chlorogenic acid foods include apples,
blueberries, pears, sunflower seeds, tea and tomatoes.
Citrin K (Garcinia Cambogia): Citrin K is a trademark name for the herbal extract of the Garcinia Cambogia fruit plant. Citrin K helps
increase fat metabolism, decrease fat storage, and helps reduce food intake by curbing your appetite. Citrin K inhibits the
synthesis of fatty acids in the liver, reducing the amount of available fat for storage.
Alpha Lipoic Acid: Alpha-lipoic acid is an antioxidant that is made by the body and is found in every cell, where it helps turn glucose
into energy. Other antioxidants work only in water (such as vitamin C) or fatty tissues (such as vitamin E), but alpha-lipoic acid is both
fat- and water-soluble. That means it can work throughout the body. In several studies, alpha-lipoic acid appears to help lower blood
sugar levels.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside (pant extract): OxypregnaneSsteroidal Glycoside is isolated from the African cactus Hoodia
Gordonii. It is thought to be responsible for the appetite suppressant activity of Hoodia extracts. San Bushmen (who are one of the
world's oldest hunter-gatherer tribes), have known about it for countless generations.
Chromium (Amino Nicotinate GTF): This is a trace element that plays a role in glucose metabolism. Chromium is known to enhance
the action of insulin, a hormone critical to the metabolism and storage of carbohydrate, fat, and protein in the body.
Maltodextrin: Maltodextrin is a complex sugar that the human digestive system breaks down into simple sugars very quickly. As such,
it provides a longer 'burn' of energy that sucrose or fructose. That's why it's used in a lot of endurance enhancing products like gels
that triathletes and cyclists use.
Citric Acid: Citric acid is a weak organic acid. It is a natural preservative/conservative and is also used to add an acidic, or sour, taste
to foods and soft drinks. In biochemistry, the base of citric acid, citrate, is important in the metabolism of virtually all living things.
Beet Root & Grape Skin Extract: Beetroot is a rich source of potent antioxidants and nutrients, including magnesium, sodium,
potassium and vitamin C. Beetroot juice has been shown to lower blood pressure and thus help prevent cardiovascular problems.
Lo Han Extract: Luo han guo is a very sweet fruit found in China. Extracts of luo han guo are commonly used as a sweetener. Lo
Han has a low Glycemic Index, and does not cause extreme fluctuations in blood sugar.
Stevia: This is also a plant-based extract used as a sweetener. As a sweetener and sugar substitute, stevia's taste has a slower
onset and longer duration than that of sugar which results in a negligible effect on blood glucose. In relation to diabetes, studies
have shown stevia to have a re-vitalizing effect on ß-cells of pancreas, improve insulin sensitivity in rats, and possibly even to
promote additional insulin production, helping to reverse diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Polydextrose: Polydextrose is a water-soluble form of glucose that provides the bulk and texture of sucrose (sugar) in foods. It has a
low glycemic response and is used to provide body and texture in reduced-calorie, no-added-sugar and high-fiber foods. This is
thought to aid in weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of soluble fiber. However, in people who have sensitivity to it,
polydextrose might cause gas and bloating, loose stools and possibly diarrhea.
Fructose: (naturally derived from plant-extracts, NOT high fructose corn syrup) Fructose is a monosaccharide (simple sugar), which
the body can quickly use for energy. Because it does not cause blood sugar rise tremendously (has a low glycemic index), it is
thought to be an acceptable substitute for sucrose (table sugar).
Soy Lecithin: Soy Lecithin is an oily substance that occurs naturally in plants (soybeans) and animals (egg yolks). Soy lecithin (E322)
is extracted from soybeans either mechanically or chemically. It’s actually a byproduct of the soybean oil production. The health
industry uses it as a supplement because of its high choline content. Choline is a micronutrient that is good for heart health and
brain development.
Carmine: Carmine, or cochineal (as it is perhaps more commonly known), is derived from a mixture of crushed beetles. More
specifically, these dried insects are boiled in water to extract the carminic acid they contain. Typically, due to the fantastic red color the
resulting potion gives off, this ingredient is used to artificially dye foods red, purple and pink. I understand there's a grossness
factor that probably explains why products using this ingredient list "carmine" instead of "powdered red beetles" on the label. However,
carmine is used as a food coloring ingredient in yogurt, ice cream, juice drinks and many other grocery products. Except for a few
individuals who suffer severe allergic reactions to beetles, most people do just fine eating carmine. Although carmine reactions are
extremely rare, a study conducted at the University of Michigan (headed by Dr. Baldwin, University of Michigan Medical Center)
demonstrated carmine can cause a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis - a condition that can put a person into shock and
require hospitalization. With that said, based on the health-enhancing properties of other pigmentation chemicals from the animal world
(such as astaxanthin found in crustaceans and salmon which is 500 times stronger than vitamin E as an antioxidant!), carmine may
very well be good for you. It's certainly better for you than any synthetic color, such as FD&C No. 40, which is derived from coal tar.
Hydroxcycinnamic Acid (not associated with Hydroxycut): Hydroxcycinnamic acids are a group of phytonutrients (plant based
chemical compounds that have numerous health benefits in the human body but are not classed as essential nutrients). They are
mainly found in coffee but can also be sourced from fresh fruits and vegetables. While hydroycinnamic acids are not believed to be
essential for human survival, they do have a number of important health benefits. Apart from coumarin, they are all potent
antioxidants which keep your body’s cells safe from harmful free radicals (dangerous substances that are released into the body’s
cells during oxygen related reactions). In addition to this, hydroycinnamic acids act as anti-inflammatories (substances that prevent
unnecessary inflammation within your body), keep your blood healthy, prevent cancer and much more.
